About the Band
High John is a Montreal-based project that has been up and running since January
2006.
In summer 2005, Ex-CrankShaft Pulley Singer/song writer Eric Mailhot teams
up with old band mate and current Bad Flirt drummer, Rafael DelaDurantaye, to
record material for what is now known as the Dead-Bird EP.
Now accompanied by
Matt Cartman on bass and FXM (from Montreal's own
Mr Robert) on keyboards, the project is taking shape and reaching new heights.
Already, High John is booking in and around Montreal, steadily building its fan
base while getting radio/internet air play in independant stations.
About the Music
High John's
alternative pop edge has a slight garage sound reminiscent of late 70's
goth/punk . The band's percussive, often trance-like melodies are backed by
profound lyrics and gloomy vocals, similar to some contemporary stoner/rock
acts. Influenced by the grandiose subliminal of music, the orchestration often
has many layers and is meant to subdue the listener's attention. |
